GENERAL FUNCTION
The Building Monitor is responsible for maintaining a safe, controlled environment in accordance with YMCA policies and guidelines, while providing excellent Member Service.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Monitor facility through regular walk through inspections (every 30 minutes) including all doors inside and outside for the entire facility.
- Complete building sweep at the end of shift in all areas making sure members are out of the building and doors are locked prior to leaving.
- Monitor all parking areas, picking up trash as seen
- Enforce rules, regulations and guidelines in accordance with YMCA policies and mission
- Must know correct disciplinary steps to be taken per policy
- Maintain a level of knowledge and information required to assist members in the use of the facility
- Complete incident/accident reports as required
- Provide janitorial services as needed by keeping locker rooms, bathrooms, front lobby, hallways, etc. free of litter left behind by members
- Give facility tours to prospective members
- Help set up special events and classes as directed
- Maintain knowledge of YMCA emergency procedures and handle any emergency situation in a professional and calm manner
- Will act as Manager on Duty in the absence of higher ranking director or coordinator
- Building Monitor may suspend facility privileges if warranted
- Inform Directors of any critical problems in a timely, professional and courteous manner
- Fully cross train with the Front Desk Staff
- Act as back up to Front Desk Staff with phones and other duties as needed, and is able to be reached at all times by cell phone or walkie talkie during shift
- Flexibility to perform a variety of tasks simultaneously
- Arrives to work at an appropriate time so that you are prepared to start your shift on time
- Refrain from using cell phones, computers, laptops and tablets for non-work related activities
- Maintain a professional attitude and appearance at all times, while in accordance with the YMCA dress code
- Develop a positive work relationship with other staff members
- Attend staff meetings
- Work flexible hours
