Bench Donation

One of our devoted members, Jerry Barnes, came to us last year asking if he could place some plastic collection bins in our facility on behalf of the Calcutta Lions Club. Plastic collected from these bins would later be recycled into plastic Trex benches and donated to various locations. Yesterday, members of the Lions Club stopped by to drop off one of the benches to our Y! Thanks to Jerry for bringing us in on this project, to our members and members of the community who have been diligent in their recycling efforts (7 benches have been produced from the plastic you collected!), and to the Lions Club for donating this bench to us.
Plastics can still be dropped off to the Calcutta Y for recycling, accepted plastics include grocery bags, bread bags, bubble wrap, cereal box liners, newspaper sleeves, and similar items. We now have an additional collection bin to help the East Liverpool Garden Club who is also collecting for Trex benches.
